Fibertec in a new look
The story of our bag-in-box system
We were looking for a way in which our high-quality HDPE bottles could be used multiple times. This is how the idea came about to offer refill stations to stationary retailers, where customers can have the amount they need filled into their existing bottle. The stationary trade, in turn, wanted to get such an attractive unit that could also be presented at the front of the sales room. The usual plastic canisters were therefore eliminated. When we researched alternatives, we found that significantly less plastic is needed for a bag. It was therefore clear to us that we would continue to pursue this approach. Now the question arose about the container size and whether different sizes could even be realised. After many discussions at trade fairs, with both our sales partners and end users, we settled on the 3 liters.

Plastic waste saved again
Upon closer inspection, we discovered that a standard 2.5 liter canister requires three times the amount of plastic as a 3 liter bag. For a 5 liter canister it is almost 6 times as much!
By eliminating the 2.5 and 5 liter canisters and switching to the bag-in-box system, we expect a reduction of over 120kg of the plastic waste we put into circulation in sales in 2024 the end consumer. This corresponds to the amount of plastic waste generated by 3 people in Germany per year.
